Ancestral Herbal Drink for a Congested Nose and Throat

Pour 2 cups of water into a small saucepan and bring it to a gentle boil.

Step 2: Add the Bay Leaves

Add the bay leaves to the hot water. Bay leaves have traditionally been used in herbal preparations for their aromatic qualities.

Step 3: Add Fresh Ginger

Add the ginger slices and reduce the heat. Allow everything to simmer gently for approximately 8–10 minutes.

Step 4: Let It Steep

Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the mixture stand for another 5 minutes. This allows the herbs and ginger to infuse into the water.

Step 5: Strain the Drink

Remove the bay leaves and ginger pieces and pour the warm tea into a cup.

Step 6: Add Honey and Lemon

Allow the drink to cool slightly, then add honey. You can also add a little fresh lemon juice for flavor.

How to Enjoy It

Drink it slowly while warm. Staying well hydrated throughout the day is also helpful when you have thick mucus or congestion.

Important Note

This drink is a comforting herbal beverage, not a treatment for lung disease or infection. Persistent mucus, shortness of breath, chest pain, wheezing, coughing up blood, high fever, or symptoms that are getting worse should be evaluated by a healthcare professional. Children under 1 year should not be given honey.
