The face is dominated by the eyes, which effortlessly express feelings, signal integrity, and draw all attention to themselves. Many people do not realize that eye color may reveal something about your personality.
Scientific studies indicate that eyeshadow is linked to certain personality traits, behavior, and even your pain tolerance.
Scientists at Örebro University in Sweden discovered that eye color is determined by the same gene that influences the frontal lobes – the part of the brain responsible for personality and behavior.
Eyes are literally the only part of the brain that we can see from the outside. No wonder they reveal so much about us.
Blue eyes
About ten thousand years ago, humanity had exclusively brown eyes. It was only when a single gene mutation occurred that blue eyes appeared – and everyone with this eye color is genetically descended from that one ancestor. People with blue eyes therefore share a small piece of DNA.
Blue-eyed people are often seen as charming, courteous, and attractive. Yet, behind that gentle gaze often lies enormous inner strength.
They can tolerate stress well and have a great capacity for empathy: they sense flawlessly what others need. Research even shows that women with blue eyes cope better with pain during childbirth.
However, the enchanting gaze also has downsides: blue eyes contain less pigment, making them more sensitive to bright light. Additionally, it appears that people with light eyes can tolerate alcohol better – but unfortunately are also more prone to excessive drinking.
Brown eyes
The most common eye color in the world is brown, and that was once the only color that existed. Brown eyes owe their deep tint to the pigment melanin, which affects not only the skin but also the brain. The more melanin, the faster information is processed – which explains why people with brown eyes are often seen as smart thinkers and natural leaders.
They radiate reliability, warmth, and self-confidence. Others often feel immediately at ease around someone with brown eyes. Also interesting: people with dark eyes drink less alcohol on average, because they notice the effects faster and therefore stop sooner. Furthermore, they usually have better reaction times in sports where precision is important, such as tennis or archery.
Dark brown or black
Those with nearly black eyes possess rare and striking irises that are often described as mysterious. These people come across as powerful and determined. They are usually born leaders who prefer actions to words. They often keep their emotions to themselves, but when they confide in someone, they are extraordinarily loyal.
People with dark eyes generally have more energy, stamina, and physical strength. Sports where focus and goal-orientation are important suit them well. Research also shows that they are less susceptible to addictions – perhaps because their brains regulate stimuli better.
