Today My Brithday No body wish me !

Then her best friend stepped forward.

“We have something to show you.”

The television turned on.

A video began playing.

Her mother appeared first.

“Emma, you probably think we forgot your birthday.”

Her brothers appeared next.

“That’s exactly what we wanted you to think.”

Then her friends.

“We’ve been planning this for months.”

Emma laughed.

Then the video changed.

There were photographs of Emma helping other people.

Giving her mother flowers.

Helping her brother move.

Taking care of a friend’s children.

Bringing food to a sick neighbor.

Comforting someone at a funeral.

Helping a stranger carry groceries.

Her best friend appeared on the screen.

“You spend your entire life making other people feel remembered.”

Her brother continued:

“So today, we wanted to make sure you knew…”

Her mother finished the sentence.

“…that you are remembered too.”

Emma couldn’t stop crying.

Then the final photograph appeared.

It was a picture of Emma as a little girl.

Her father was holding her.

Underneath it were the words:

“The girl who spent her whole life making everyone else feel loved deserves to feel loved too.”

Emma covered her face.

Everyone applauded.

Part 8 — The Woman From the Restaurant

But there was one more surprise.

Her mother opened the door.

Margaret was standing outside.

Emma froze.

“You?”

Margaret smiled.

“I hope you don’t mind.”

Emma ran toward her.

“You knew?”

Margaret laughed.

“I knew something.”

Emma hugged her.

“Thank you.”

Margaret whispered:

“You needed to believe that nobody remembered before you could understand how much you were remembered.”

Emma smiled.

“Did my family put you up to this?”

Margaret shook her head.

“No.”

“Then how did you know?”

Margaret pointed toward Emma’s mother.

“Your mother came into the restaurant this morning.”

Emma looked at her mother.

“What?”

Her mother laughed.

“Margaret is my friend.”

Emma stared at both women.

“You planned everything?”

“Almost everything.”

Emma laughed.

“That’s unbelievable.”

Margaret smiled.

“Sometimes the best surprises require a little heartbreak first.”
