Electrical fires can result from many problems, including overloaded circuits, damaged wiring, loose connections, defective equipment, and faulty outlets.
The safest approach is therefore not to panic about one particular appliance but to develop good electrical safety habits throughout the kitchen.
Unplugging a toaster or other small heat-producing appliance after use takes only a few seconds. It can also prevent an appliance from remaining connected to electricity unnecessarily while everyone in the home is asleep or away.
