Step 1: Prepare the Rosemary
If using fresh rosemary, rinse the sprig thoroughly under clean running water to remove dust and dirt.
If using dried rosemary, measure approximately one teaspoon. Use culinary rosemary intended for consumption.
Step 2: Heat the Water
Pour one cup of water into a small saucepan or kettle and bring it to a boil.
Once the water reaches boiling point, remove it from the heat.
Step 3: Add the Rosemary
Place the rosemary in a cup or teapot and pour the hot water over it.
Cover the cup to help retain the aromatic compounds released during steeping.
Step 4: Allow It to Steep
Let the rosemary steep for approximately 5–10 minutes.
A shorter steep produces a milder flavor, while a longer steep creates a stronger, more pronounced herbal taste.
Step 5: Strain the Tea
Strain the liquid through a fine-mesh strainer to remove the rosemary leaves.
Allow the tea to cool slightly before drinking.
Step 6: Add Optional Ingredients
If desired, add a small amount of honey or a slice of lemon to improve the flavor.
These ingredients are optional, and the tea can be enjoyed on its own.
Step 7: Enjoy Your Herbal Drink
Drink the tea while it is comfortably warm.
If you are new to rosemary tea, begin with an occasional, modest serving rather than consuming large amounts or highly concentrated preparations.
