I love keeping a batch of homemade lemon ginger turmeric shots in the refrigerator, especially when the colder months arrive. They are bright, spicy, refreshing, and incredibly easy to prepare at home.
This golden wellness drink combines fresh lemon, ginger, and turmeric into a concentrated little shot that can be enjoyed as part of a balanced daily routine. Rather than relying on expensive store-bought wellness drinks, you can make your own batch with simple ingredients from the grocery store.
The combination of lemon and ginger gives these shots a naturally sharp and refreshing flavor, while turmeric adds their beautiful golden color and earthy taste. If you prefer a slightly sweeter drink, a small amount of honey can balance the tartness.
To make approximately 6–8 small shots, you will need 2 large lemons, about 3–4 ounces of fresh ginger, 1–2 teaspoons of ground turmeric or a small piece of fresh turmeric, 1–2 tablespoons of honey if desired, and about ½ cup of water. You can also add a small pinch of black pepper if you enjoy the flavor.
Begin by washing the ginger thoroughly. You can peel it if you prefer, although peeling is not essential when it has been cleaned well. Cut the ginger into smaller pieces so your blender can process it more easily.
Wash the lemons, peel them, remove the seeds, and cut them into manageable pieces. If using fresh turmeric, peel it carefully because its intense golden color can stain your hands, cutting board, and kitchen utensils.
Place the lemon, ginger, turmeric, and water into a high-powered blender. Blend for about 30–60 seconds, or until the mixture becomes as smooth as possible.
If you prefer a smoother wellness shot, pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer. Press the pulp gently with the back of a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible.
Taste the mixture before adding honey. Fresh ginger can be quite spicy, while lemon can be very tart. Add honey gradually until you reach the flavor you enjoy.
