Turn Leftover Lemon Peels into a Flavorful Homemade Lemon Powder
Most people toss lemon peels into the trash without realizing they are packed with aroma and flavor. Instead of wasting them, you can transform them into a versatile lemon powder that can be used in cooking, baking, drinks, and household cleaning.
Why Save Lemon Peels?
Lemon peels contain natural citrus oils that provide a bright, fresh flavor and fragrance. Making lemon powder is an easy way to preserve those benefits and reduce kitchen waste.
Ingredients
- Peels from 4–6 lemons
- Water (for washing)
Optional
- A pinch of salt
- Sugar for sweet recipes
Step 1: Wash the Lemons
Thoroughly wash the lemons under running water to remove dirt, wax, and any residues. Pat them dry with a clean towel.
Step 2: Remove the Peels
Using a vegetable peeler or knife, remove the yellow outer peel. Try to avoid taking too much of the white pith, as it can make the powder bitter.
