As we get older, protecting our eyesight becomes more important. Blurry or cloudy vision can make reading, driving, using a phone, and enjoying everyday activities more difficult. While no fruit can remove cataracts overnight or replace an eye surgeon, certain fruits provide nutrients that can support overall eye health as part of a balanced diet.
1. Oranges
Oranges are rich in vitamin C, an antioxidant that helps protect cells from oxidative stress. Vitamin C is also found in many other fruits, including strawberries, kiwi, and grapefruit.
Enjoy a whole orange as a snack, add orange segments to a salad, or include fresh fruit with breakfast. Whole fruit is generally preferable to fruit juice because it also provides fiber.
2. Berries
Blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries provide vitamin C and other antioxidant compounds. They are an easy way to add more colorful plant foods to your diet.
Try adding a handful of berries to oatmeal, plain yogurt, or a fruit bowl. You don’t need a large amount—regularly including a variety of fruits and vegetables is more important than relying on one particular food.
3. Kiwi
Kiwi provides vitamin C along with other nutrients and antioxidants. Its bright green flesh makes it an easy addition to a balanced breakfast or snack.
Slice it into oatmeal, combine it with other fruit, or simply eat it on its own.
What About Cloudy Vision?
A cloudy-looking eye can have several causes. Cataracts occur when the natural lens inside the eye becomes cloudy, and they cannot be reliably dissolved with fruit, juice, or a homemade mixture.
If your vision is becoming cloudy, colors appear faded, lights produce increasing glare, or night vision is getting worse, schedule an eye examination. An eye-care professional can determine whether cataracts or another eye condition is responsible.
A nutritious diet can support long-term eye health, but it should not be used as a substitute for medical treatment. If cataracts eventually interfere with daily activities, an eye specialist can discuss appropriate treatment options.
So instead of looking for a fruit that promises to make cloudy eyes clear in one night, focus on a varied, nutrient-rich diet, regular eye examinations, protection from excessive sunlight, and proper treatment when an eye condition is diagnosed.
