Stuffed bell peppers

Step 1: Prepare the Peppers

  1. Wash the bell peppers thoroughly.
  2. Cut the tops off the peppers and remove the seeds and membranes.
  3. Lightly brush the peppers with olive oil and sprinkle a little salt inside.

Step 2: Cook the Filling

  1. Heat a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add a little olive oil and sauté the chopped onion for 3–4 minutes until soft.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Add the ground meat and cook for 6–7 minutes until browned.
  5. Stir in the paprika, salt, pepper, and oregano.

Step 3: Mix the Filling

  1. Add the cooked rice to the meat mixture.
  2. Pour in ½ cup of tomato sauce.
  3. Mix everything well and cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat.

Step 4: Stuff the Peppers

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Fill each pepper with the meat and rice mixture.
  3. Place the peppers upright in a baking dish.
  4. Pour the remaining ½ cup tomato sauce over the peppers.

Step 5: Bake

  1. Cover the dish with foil.
  2. Bake for 30 minutes.
  3. Remove the foil, sprinkle cheese on top (optional), and bake another 10 minutes until melted.
