Strawberry Cheesecake Trifle

Ingredients:

2 pints fresh strawberries, sliced
1 cup sugar, divided
Two packages (8 ounces each) of softened cream cheese

3 tablespoons orange juice
3 cups heavy whipping cream, whipped
One loaf (10-3/4 oz) of frozen pound cake, thawed and divided into cubes of 1/2 inch
3 ounces semisweet chocolate, grated
Optional: Chocolate curls and additional strawberries for garnish

Instructions:

In a bowl, toss the sliced strawberries with 1/2 cup of sugar. Set aside.
In another bowl, beat the cream cheese, orange juice, and remaining sugar until smooth.
Incorporate the whipped cream into the mixture of cream cheese.
Set aside.
Drain the strawberries, reserving the juice. Set the berries aside.
Toss the pieces of pound cake gently with the strawberry liquid that was set aside.

Place half of the cake cubes in a 4-quart trifle dish or serving bowl.
Top with one-third of the cream cheese mixture, half of the sliced strawberries, and half of the grated chocolate.
Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients: cake cubes, cream cheese mixture, strawberries, and grated chocolate.
Top the trifle with the remaining cream cheese mixture.
Garnish with chocolate curls and additional strawberries, if desired.
Before serving, cover the trifle and chill it for at least four hours.
