Soft Christmas Cookies

Ingredients:

For the Cookies:

3 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
½ teaspoon almond extract
4 tablespoons milk

For the Icing:

2 cups powdered sugar
4 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Food coloring and sprinkles (optional)
Directions:
Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Mix Dry Ingredients:

Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium-sized bowl.
Sugar and Cream Butter:

Cream the sugar and butter together in a big bowl until they are light and creamy. Add the almond extract, vanilla extract, and eggs and beat until thoroughly blended.
Mix the ingredients:

Add the dry ingredients to the wet ones gradually, stirring until thoroughly combined, after switching with the milk. Put the dough in the refrigerator for half an hour if it’s too sticky.
Shape and Roll:

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of approximately ¼ inch. Using cookie cutters, cut the cookies into festive shapes and arrange them on the baking pans that have been prepared.
Bake the Cookies:

Bake until the edges are just beginning to turn brown, 6 to 8 minutes. Allow the cookies to rest on the baking pans for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Get the icing ready:

Mix the milk, vanilla essence, and powdered sugar in a bowl. Add food coloring if desired.
Decorate:

Once the cookies are completely cooled, spread the icing on top and decorate with sprinkles if desired.
