Ingredients:
1 lb sausage
2 cups milk
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
8 biscuits (pre-made or homemade)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground sage
For further spiciness, consider adding 1/2 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes.
Directions:
In a large skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until it’s browned, breaking it up into smaller pieces as it cooks.
After adding the flour and stirring, cook the sausage for about two minutes.
Gradually pour in the milk while stirring constantly. Raise the temperature to a medium-high level and allow the mixture to boil. After that, lower the heat and simmer for about five minutes, or until the gravy thickens. Add ground sage, black pepper, and salt to the gravy to season it. Crushed red pepper flakes can be added for extra spiciness if desired.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Place the biscuits in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish in a single layer.
Pour the sausage gravy over the biscuits, making sure to cover them evenly.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown, in a preheated oven.
Serve the Sausage, Gravy, and Biscuit Pie while it’s hot and enjoy!
This hearty dish combines the comforting flavors of sausage gravy and flaky biscuits, resulting in a delicious and satisfying meal. It’s perfect for breakfast or brunch and is sure to be a hit with family and friends.
