Ingredients:
1/2 pound lean ground beef
1/2 pound lean ground turkey
1/2 cup minced onions
1/3 cup seasoned bread crumbs
1 large egg, beaten
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
1/4 teaspoon mustard powder
5 ounces sliced mushrooms
1 1/4 cups beef broth
Instructions:
Finely chop one ounce of the mushrooms and set them aside.
Heat olive oil in a skillet and add the minced onions. Cook until they are softened.
Divide the cooked onions into two equal portions.
Mix half of the sautéed onions, ground beef, ground turkey, chopped mushrooms, bread crumbs, beaten egg, 1/4 cup of tomato paste, and beaten egg in a big bowl. salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
In a small bowl, blend together the flour and 1 cup of beef broth until smooth.
To the flour and broth mixture, add the remaining onions, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, red wine vinegar, and mustard powder. Mix until well combined.
Carefully form the meat mixture into 20 small meatballs.
Heat additional oil in a pan and sauté the meatballs in batches, ensuring they are evenly browned on all sides.
Add the remaining mushrooms, salt, and black pepper to the pan.
Pour the sauce mixture over the meatballs and cook for 20 minutes over medium heat. If using a crockpot, cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.
Serve the Salisbury steak meatballs over mashed cauliflower, mashed potatoes, or rice.
