recipe for Tres Leches Cake

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
1 cup sugar
5 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups whole milk
12 oz can evaporated milk
14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 cups whipping cream
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, combine the butter and sugar, and beat until smooth. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until frothy and light.
Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in a small basin. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, and mix until well combined.
Transfer the batter to the prepared baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Once the cake is baked, pierce the top all over with a fork and allow it to cool to room temperature.
In a large bowl, mix together the whole milk, evaporated milk, and sweetened condensed milk. After the cake has cooled, pour the milk mixture over it and give it time to soak.
In a chilled bowl, whip the whipping cream, 1 cup of sugar, and vanilla extract together until peaks form. Spread the whipped topping over the cake once all the milk has soaked in.
If desired, sprinkle cinnamon over the top.
Keep the cake refrigerated and serve chilled.
