Potato Patties with Meat Filling

Step 1: Cook the Potatoes

  1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into chunks.
  2. Place them in a pot of salted water.
  3. Boil for 15–20 minutes until tender.
  4. Drain well and mash until smooth.
  5. Let the mashed potatoes cool slightly.

Step 2: Prepare the Potato Dough

  1. Add egg, flour, salt, and pepper to the mashed potatoes.
  2. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. If the dough is sticky, add a little more flour.

Step 3: Cook the Meat Filling

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until soft.
  3. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Add ground meat.
  5. Season with paprika, salt, and pepper.
  6. Cook for 6–8 minutes until the meat is fully browned.
  7. Let the filling cool slightly.

Step 4: Form the Patties

  1. Take 2 tablespoons of potato dough and flatten it in your hand.
  2. Place 1 tablespoon of meat filling in the center.
  3. Cover with another small piece of potato dough.
  4. Seal the edges and shape into a round patty.

Step 5: Fry the Patties

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  2. Place patties in the pan carefully.
  3. Fry 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Transfer to paper towels to remove excess oil.

🍽️ Serving Suggestions

Serve hot with:

  • Sour cream
  • Garlic yogurt sauce
  • Fresh parsley
  • A side salad

✅ Tip: You can also bake them at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes for a lighter version.
