One Pot Lasagna Soup

Ingredients:

1 pound ground beef
1 pound Italian sausage, ground
10 lasagna noodles
1 onion, chopped
24 ounces jar of pasta sauce
4 teaspoons minced garlic
8 cups chicken broth
2 tablespoons tomato paste
14 ounces can diced tomatoes
1 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
2 teaspoons dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 bay leaf
Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

In a large pot over medium-high heat, add the ground beef, onion, and sausage. Cook until completely browned, then drain any excess fat.
Return the pot to the stove and mix in the minced garlic. Sauté for 30 seconds.
Add the tomato paste, chopped tomatoes, sugar, balsamic vinegar, bay leaf, oregano, basil, and salt and pepper to taste, along with the spaghetti sauce and chicken broth.
When the mixture reaches a boil, cover the saucepan.
Once the lasagna noodles are broken up, add them to the saucepan.

After lowering the heat to medium-low, simmer the noodles until they are tender.
Remove the bay leaf from the soup.
Serve the soup and top with Parmesan cheese, mozzarella, or ricotta.
