Old-Fashioned Stuffed Cabbage Rolls Recipe

Ingredients:

1 large head of green cabbage
1 pound ground beef
1 cup cooked white rice
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped parsley
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1/2 cup beef broth
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F
Take out the cabbage’s center and gently pull apart the leaves. Add the cabbage leaves to a large saucepan of boiling water. Sauté for two to three minutes, or until tender. After taking the leaves out of the water, place them somewhere to cool.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, cooked rice, chopped onion, chopped parsley, minced garlic, beaten egg, salt, and black pepper. Until all the ingredients are fully incorporated, mix well.
Spoon two to three teaspoons of the meat mixture onto each leaf of cabbage. The leaf should be rolled up and the edges tucked in to make a tidy bundle.
In a large pot or Dutch oven, combine the diced tomatoes, beef broth, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
Spoon some of the sauce over the top of the stuffed cabbage rolls after placing them in the saucepan.
Once the meat is well cooked and the cabbage is soft, cover the pot and bake in the preheated oven for one and a half hours.
Serve the stuffed cabbage rolls warm, spooning additional sauce over them. Enjoy!
These old-fashioned stuffed cabbage rolls are a comforting and delicious dish. The combination of seasoned ground beef, cooked rice, and aromatic herbs and spices wrapped in tender cabbage leaves creates a satisfying meal. The sweet and tangy tomato-based sauce adds extra flavor. Serve these hearty cabbage rolls as a main course and enjoy the timeless taste of this classic recipe.
