Old Fashioned Goulash

Step 1: Cook the Beef

  1. In a large pot or deep skillet cook the ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat.
  2. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion becomes soft.
  3. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Step 2: Add Garlic

Add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 3: Add the Sauce Ingredients

Stir in:

  • Tomato sauce
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Beef broth
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Paprika
  • Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper

Mix well.

Step 4: Add the Macaroni

Add the uncooked elbow macaroni directly into the pot.
Stir everything together.

Step 5: Simmer

  1. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  2. Reduce heat to low.
  3. Cover and simmer for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally until the pasta is tender.

Step 6: Add Cheese (Optional)

If you like a creamy finish, stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted.

Serve 🍽️

Serve hot and garnish with:

  • Fresh parsley
  • Extra shredded cheese
  • A sprinkle of black pepper

This dish goes great with:

  • Garlic bread
  • Side salad
  • Steamed vegetables

✅ Cooking Tip:
Old fashioned goulash often tastes even better the next day because the pasta absorbs the rich tomato sauce and flavors deepen.
