Ingredients:
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup warm milk
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 large egg
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
1 teaspoon salt
Sesame seeds (optional, for topping)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Activating the Yeast:
Mix warm milk and sugar in a bowl. Sprinkle active dry yeast over the mixture and let it activate for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
Creating the Dough:
In a large bowl, combine the activated yeast mixture with melted butter, beaten egg, and salt. Stirring constantly, gradually add the flour until a dough forms.
Kneading and Rising:
Place the dough on a floured area and knead it for 8 to 10 minutes, or until it becomes elastic and smooth.
. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours or until it doubles in size.
Shaping the Buns:
After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal halves.
Shape them into hot dog buns and arrange them on a parchment paper-lined baking pan.
Second Rise:
For a further 30 to 45 minutes, cover the formed buns with a kitchen towel and allow them to rise.
Baking:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). If desired, brush the risen buns with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds on top. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes at a time, or until well-browned.
Cooling and Enjoying:
Allow the hot dog buns to cool on a wire rack. Cut them open once they’ve cooled, top with your preferred hot dog or sausage, and enjoy the deliciousness of handmade food.
Enjoy your freshly baked hot dog buns!
