Homemade Chicken and Dumplings

Ingredients:

2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 pinch salt
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup milk
2 quarts chicken broth
3 cups cooked chicken

Instructions:

Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a bowl.
Cut the butter into the dry ingredients using a fork or pastry blender.
Using a fork, stir in the milk until the dough comes together to form a ball.
Heavily flour a work surface and roll out the dough thin with a heavily floured rolling pin.
Dip a pizza cutter or a sharp knife in flour and cut the dough into squares about 2×2 inches each. They don’t have to be exact.
Use a floured spatula to transfer the dumplings onto a heavily floured plate, layering them with flour in between to prevent sticking.
The chicken stock should be brought to a boil in a big saucepan.
Drop the dumplings into the boiling broth one at a time, stirring gently as you add them. The flour on the dumplings will help thicken the broth.
Cook the dumplings for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until they are no longer doughy.
Add the cooked chicken to the pot and stir to combine.
Serve the homemade chicken and dumplings hot.
