Ingredients:
For the Bread:
1/2 cup softened butter
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 cups diced peeled green apple
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
For the Topping:
5 tablespoons cold butter
1/3 cup flour
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
For the Vanilla Glaze:
1 tablespoon melted butter
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F . Line a bread pan with parchment paper or spray it with non-stick cooking spray.
Cream the sugar and softened butter in a mixing dish.
. Add the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract, and stir until well incorporated.
Mix in the flour, salt, and baking powder until the batter is smooth. Add the chopped nuts and diced apples and mix well.
Transfer the batter to the prepared baking pan.
In a separate bowl, combine the cold butter, flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon for the topping. Mix with a fork or pastry mixer until the mixture becomes crumbly. Sprinkle this topping evenly over the batter in the pan.
When a toothpick put into the bread comes out clean, bake for 55 to 60 minutes.
The internal temperature of the bread should reach 200 degrees F (93 degrees C) when fully cooked.
Allow the bread to cool. After it cools, take it out of the pan and pour the vanilla glaze over the top.
Slice and serve the Dutch Apple Bread. Store any leftovers in an airtight container.
