Ingredients:
1 yellow cake mix
3.4 oz. vanilla pudding mix
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
5 large eggs, at room temperature
1/2 cup whole milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup sweet white wine (such as Riesling)
Glaze Ingredients:
1/2 cup salted butter
1/4 cup sweet white wine
1 cup granulated sugar
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Set aside a bundt pan that has been greased with nonstick baking spray.
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, vanilla pudding mix, light brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon.
Add the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, sour cream, and sweet white wine to the dry mixture. Blend the items until they are fully combined and smooth.
Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan.
Bake the cake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean and the edges have pulled away from the pan.
While the cake is baking, prepare the glaze. In a small saucepan, heat the butter, sweet white wine, and granulated sugar over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is dissolved, then remove the glaze from the heat.
Once the cake is done baking, use a bamboo skewer or toothpick to poke holes all over the bottom of the cake while it is still in the pan.
Pour the glaze over the cake, allowing it to soak into the holes. This process takes about 15-20 minutes.
After the glaze has been absorbed into the cake, use a spatula to release the pan’s sides as much as you can.
Carefully turn the cake out of the pan onto a cake plate.
Cut and serve the crack cake.
