Cheesy Texas Toast

Garlic cheese toast can be crafted by selecting a thickly sliced white bread, such as regular or sourdough, preferably found in the frozen section labeled as “Texas Toast.” Opt for bread with sufficient thickness to accommodate toppings and facilitate dipping into soups and sauces.

For optimal results, employ butter, as it imparts a richer flavor compared to margarine. However, margarine can be a substitute if necessary.

The cheese component can feature a combination of cheddar, Monterey Jack, and Parmesan. Alternatively, any available cheese like mozzarella, Emmental, or Swiss can be used for a delicious outcome.

Enhance the flavor by incorporating fresh minced garlic, adjusting the quantity based on personal preference.

Ingredients:
4 pieces of Texas Toast or slices of thick white bread
1/2 cup of grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend)
2 tablespoons of melted unsalted butter
2 cloves of minced garlic (optional)
Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C).
Position the bread slices on a baking sheet.
In a small bowl, combine the melted butter and minced garlic (if desired).
Evenly brush the mixture onto both sides of the bread slices.
Sprinkle the grated cheese evenly on top of each slice.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until the cheese melts, and the bread achieves a golden brown hue.
Serve the cheesy Texas toast hot.
