3-4 Vidalia sweet onions
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1 cup finely shredded Italian blend cheese
1 cup finely shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup finely shredded Parmesan cheese
Preparation:
Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Prepare Baking Dish:
Coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
Prepare Onions:
Clean and peel the Vidalia sweet onions. Slice them into 1/4 inch thick rounds, keeping the rounds intact.
Arrange Onions:
Spread the onion rounds evenly in the prepared baking dish.
Season Onions:
Add oregano, garlic powder, and salt to the onion rounds for seasoning.
Add Butter:
Cut the butter into approximately eight portions. Distribute the butter pats evenly over the seasoned onion rounds.
Add Cheese:
Evenly distribute the cheddar and Italian blend cheeses over the onion rounds.
Top with the shredded Parmesan cheese.
Bake:
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven. Bake the cheese for 35 to 40 minutes, or until it is bubbling and golden brown.
