Caramel Apple Jam Recipe

Ingredients:

6 cups finely diced peeled Apples (approximately 4 medium to large Honey Crisp apples)
1/2 cup water*
1/2 teaspoon butter
1 package Sure-Jell (powdered fruit pectin)
4 cups sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (heaping)
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Method:

In a large stockpot, combine the finely diced apples, water, and butter. Cook and stir over low heat until the apples are tender, which takes about 10 minutes.
Stir in the powdered fruit pectin and bring the mixture to a rolling boil, stirring constantly.
Add the sugar, packed brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg to the pot. Return to a rolling boil and let it boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Remove the pot from the heat and skim off any foam that may have formed on the surface of the jam.
Carefully ladle the hot mixture into hot half-pint or pint jars, leaving a 1/4-inch headspace. Using a non-metallic instrument, scrape the interior of the jar to eliminate any air bubbles.
. Wipe the rims of the jars clean and adjust the lids.
For ten minutes, process the jars in a bath of hot water.
After the lids have sealed, twist the jars gently from side to side while cooling. This will help evenly distribute the apple pieces throughout the jam.
The recipe yields approximately 3 pints or 6 half-pints of Caramel Apple Jam.
*Optional: Instead of using 1/2 cup of water, you can replace it with 1/2 cup of spiced rum, cinnamon whiskey, or bourbon for a different twist and flavor profile.

Enjoy your homemade Caramel Apple Jam! It’s perfect for spreading on toast, biscuits, or using as a delicious topping for desserts.
