Ingredients:
2 packets of cinnamon rolls
4 large apples, peeled and diced (Granny Smith or Golden Delicious)
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/2 cup caramel sauce (or salted caramel sauce, if preferred)
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and spray an 8x8x2-inch glass or ceramic dish with nonstick spray. You can also use a 7x9x2-inch ceramic dish.
In a bowl, mix the diced apples, sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, and nutmeg until the apples are evenly coated.
Cut the cinnamon rolls into 1/2-inch strips and roll them out on a floured work surface until they become fluffy. To keep the dough from sticking, dust it with flour as needed.
Arrange the first layer of flattened cinnamon rolls on the bottom and sides of the dish. Press them down with your hands to seal them well.
Spread half of the apple filling over the cinnamon roll layer and drizzle 2-3 tablespoons of caramel sauce on top.
Add another layer of cinnamon buns that have been flattened.
Spread the remaining apple filling over the cinnamon roll layer and pour more caramel sauce on top.
Cover with the remaining flattened cinnamon rolls.
Cover the dish with foil and bake for thirty minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
Allow the lasagna roll to cool for at least 30 minutes. Drizzle the included icing from the cinnamon roll packages over the top before serving.
