Classic Prime Rib Roast Recipe

Ingredients:

1 (4 to 5-pound) bone-in prime rib roast
2 tablespoons olive oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, minced garlic, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper to create a paste.
Using paper towels, pat dry the prime rib roast.
. Rub the herb paste all over the roast, ensuring it’s evenly coated.
Place the roast bone-side down in a roasting pan.
. If desired, you can place the roast on a rack to elevate it above the pan drippings.
For 15 minutes, roast the prime rib in the preheated oven to sear the exterior.
Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (165°C) and continue roasting for about 2 to 2.5 hours (or until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part reads your desired doneness – – 130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium, and 120°F for uncommon.
After taking the roast out of the oven, cover it loosely with foil. After letting it rest for 15 to 20 minutes, carve it.
Slice the prime rib into thick slices and serve with your favorite sides and au jus or gravy.
