Homemade Turtle Candy With Pecans and Caramel

Ingredients:

64 Pecan halves
11 oz. Baking/cooking caramels
1 Bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
Parchment paper or a silicone baking mat
Instructions:

Prepare the Base:
Place pecan halves flat side down on a parchment or silicone baking mat-lined sheet in sets of four, forming cross or “x” shapes.
Leave some space between each set of pecan halves. These are going to be the foundation for your turtle candies.
Melt Caramels:
Take off the wrapping and put the caramels in a dish that is safe to microwave.
Add a tablespoon of water and microwave in 30-second intervals until completely melted and smooth.
Assemble the Candies:
Spoon the melted caramel over the center of each group of pecan halves generously.
Melt Chocolate:
Place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and melt them in 30-second intervals until smooth.
Finish the Candies:
Spoon the melted chocolate over the caramel in the center of each candy.
Set and Serve:
Place the turtle candies in the freezer to set for at least 30 minutes before serving.
