Waking up several times during the night to urinate can be frustrating, especially for men over 50. One possible cause is an enlarged prostate, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). This condition can affect urine flow, bladder emptying, and sleep quality.
Although herbal drinks and healthy dietary habits can contribute to an overall wellness routine, no drink has been proven to shrink an enlarged prostate or restore normal prostate size within 48 hours. Frequent nighttime urination can have several causes, so understanding the underlying problem is important.
A Simple Ginger and Lemon Drink
This warm, caffeine-free drink is easy to prepare and can be enjoyed as part of a balanced diet. It is not a treatment for an enlarged prostate.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (250 ml) warm water
- 2–3 thin slices of fresh ginger
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon honey (optional)
Step 1: Prepare the Ginger
Wash the fresh ginger thoroughly and cut it into thin slices.
Step 2: Heat the Water
Bring the water to a boil, then allow it to cool slightly.
Step 3: Infuse the Ginger
Add the ginger slices to the hot water and let them steep for 5–10 minutes.
Step 4: Add the Lemon
Stir in the lemon juice. Add honey if desired.
Step 5: Enjoy in Moderation
Drink it warm. If nighttime urination is a problem, avoid drinking large amounts of fluid shortly before going to bed.
