Homemade Cherry Vanilla Ice Cream

Ingredients:

2 cups pitted cherries, fresh or frozen
1 cup granulated sugar
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup whole milk
One split vanilla bean with scraped seeds (or one tablespoon of vanilla essence)
Pinch of salt

Directions:

The cherries and sugar should be combined in a saucepan over medium heat. Simmer for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring often, or until the cherries start to release their juices and the sugar is completely dissolved.

Remove the saucepan from heat and let the cherry mixture cool slightly. Then, transfer it to a blender or food processor and puree until smooth.

Simmer the heavy cream, whole milk, vanilla bean (with the scraped seeds), and salt in a separate saucepan over medium-low heat.. Remove the saucepan from heat.
Strain the cream mixture to remove the vanilla bean.
Stir the strained cream mixture into the cherry puree gradually until thoroughly blended.
Place the mixture in the refrigerator and let it cool completely, ideally overnight.
In an ice cream machine, churn the cold ingredients in accordance with the manufacturer’s directions.

After churning, pour the ice cream into a freezer-safe container and let it there to solidify over a few hours.
Present portions of delectable handmade vanilla cherry ice cream and relish!
