Ground Beef and Potato Bake

Ingredients:

4-5 potatoes, peeled and sliced
Olive oil, for drizzling
Salt and black pepper, to season
1/2 teaspoon sweet paprika
450 g (1 lb) ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1/2 teaspoon sweet paprika
1/2 teaspoon oregano
9 oz crushed tomatoes
Optional: shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Arrange the potato slices in a greased baking dish. Drizzle them with olive oil and sprinkle with salt, black pepper, and 1/2 teaspoon of sweet paprika.
Bake the potatoes for 20 minutes, or until they start to soften. Preheat a skillet over medium heat while the potatoes are baking.
Sauté the chopped onions and ground beef in the skillet, adding salt, black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon of sweet paprika, and oregano. Cook until the beef is browned.
Stir in the crushed tomatoes and simmer the mixture for 10 minutes.
Spoon the beef mixture over the pre-baked potatoes in the baking dish. If desired, sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
Return the baking dish to the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
