Ingredients:
1/2 cup ketchup
1/3 cup rice vinegar
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon minced ginger
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Directions:
In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and soy sauce until well combined. Set aside.
In another small bowl, dissolve cornstarch in water to create a slurry. Set aside.
IHeat the vegetable oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Crushed red pepper flakes (if used), minced garlic, and minced ginger should be added. . Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Pour in the ketchup mixture and bring it to a simmer.
Cook it for two to three minutes, stirring now and then.
Pour the cornstarch slurry into the pot after giving it one more stir to make sure everything is completely blended. For one to two minutes, or until the sauce thickens, stir constantly.
Before serving, take the sauce off of the stove and let it to cool somewhat.
Use the Chinese Sweet and Sour Sauce as a stir-fry sauce or as a dip for your favorite snacks.
