After 60, sagging cheeks, fine lines, and changes around the jawline can become more noticeable. As the skin naturally loses collagen and elasticity with age, it may also become drier and less plump, making facial lines appear deeper.
Egg yolk is sometimes used in traditional homemade beauty treatments because it contains fats, proteins, and other nutrients. However, applying egg yolk to the face cannot permanently tighten loose skin or make a jawline “snap back” overnight. Any smoother appearance after a mask is more likely to come from temporary hydration and the way the product sits on the skin.
If you want to try an egg-yolk mask, keep the preparation simple and hygienic.
Take one fresh egg and carefully separate the yolk from the white. Place the yolk in a clean bowl and whisk it gently until it becomes smooth.
Add 1 teaspoon of plain, fragrance-free facial moisturizer or a small amount of plain yogurt. Mix until you have a creamy consistency.
Before applying the mixture to your face, perform a small patch test, particularly if you have sensitive skin.
Clean your face with a gentle cleanser and lukewarm water. Pat it dry without rubbing.
Apply a thin layer of the mixture to the cheeks, forehead, chin, and jawline. Avoid the eyelids, lips, and the immediate area around the eyes.
Leave the mask on for approximately 10–15 minutes. Do not leave raw egg on the skin overnight. Raw egg can harbor bacteria, and keeping food-based mixtures against the skin for many hours can increase the possibility of irritation or contamination.
Rinse the mask away thoroughly with lukewarm water and gently pat your face dry.
Finish with your regular fragrance-free moisturizer. If your skin feels dry, a moisturizer containing ceramides, glycerin, or hyaluronic acid can help maintain hydration.
For a more effective long-term anti-aging skincare routine, focus on habits that have stronger evidence behind them. Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen helps protect the skin from ultraviolet damage, while consistent moisturizing can reduce the appearance of dryness and fine lines.
Ingredients such as retinoids are also commonly used in professional anti-aging skincare to improve fine lines and skin texture over time. They can cause irritation, so they should be introduced gradually and used according to appropriate skincare guidance.
It is also important to remember that facial exercises, homemade masks, and kitchen ingredients cannot physically lift significantly sagging skin within 16 hours. Noticeable loss of skin elasticity is a normal part of aging and cannot be permanently reversed by a single overnight treatment.
If you enjoy traditional DIY skincare, an occasional egg-yolk mask can be treated as a cosmetic moisturizing ritual rather than a wrinkle-lifting treatment. Always use a fresh egg, prepare the mask immediately before application, avoid the eye area, and never apply it to broken or irritated skin.
For mature skin, the most reliable approach is consistency: gentle cleansing, regular moisturizing, daily sun protection, adequate nutrition, good hydration, and a carefully chosen anti-aging skincare routine. This combination can help skin look healthier, smoother, and more hydrated without relying on unrealistic overnight promises.
