Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
Salt and pepper to taste
Eight ounces of egg noodles, prepared as directed on the box
1 cup sour cream
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
Set the oven to 350°F (175°C) and coat a 9-by-13-inch baking pan with oil.
Brown the ground beef over medium heat in a large skillet. Add the minced garlic and chopped onion, and sauté until the onion is transparent.
Add the dried oregano, dry basil, tomato sauce, chopped tomatoes (with liquids), salt, and pepper.
. Simmer the mixture for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to allow the flavors to blend.
In the prepared baking dish, create a layer with half of the cooked egg noodles at the bottom. Spread half of the beef mixture over the noodles.
Top the beef mixture with a dollop of half the sour cream and half of the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses.
With the remaining noodles, meat mixture, sour cream, and cheeses, repeat the layers.
Evenly distribute the grated Parmesan cheese throughout the casserole’s surface.
Bake the baking dish for 25 minutes in a preheated oven covered with aluminum foil.
After removing the foil, bake for a further ten minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and melted.
