Southern Chocolate Cobbler Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Batter:

1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

For the Topping:

2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3 cups boiling water

For Serving:

Vanilla ice cream

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Place the butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish and put it in the preheated oven. Once the butter has melted, remove the dish from the oven and set it aside.
In a mixing bowl, stir together 1 1/2 cups sugar, 4 tablespoons cocoa powder, flour, milk, baking powder, salt, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Spoon the batter into the baking dish over the melted butter, but do not stir.
In a separate bowl, mix together 2 cups sugar and 1/2 cup cocoa powder.Evenly distribute this mixture over the baking dish’s batter.

Pour the boiling water over the topping, but again, do not stir.
Bake the cobbler in the preheated oven until the top has set, about 35-40 minutes. There will be some mushy, loose bottom material.
Before serving, let the cobbler to cool for fifteen minutes.
Serve the Southern Chocolate Cobbler warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
