Ingredients:
Dough:
1/2 cup lukewarm water
2 teaspoons instant yeast
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup melted butter
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (more or less)
Filling:
8 oz cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup powdered sugar
3/4 cup strawberry jam
1 cup finely diced strawberries
Icing:
1/3 cup reserved cream cheese mixture
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1-2 teaspoons milk
A touch of vanilla
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir until the yeast is dissolved. Add milk, melted butter, salt, eggs, and 1 cup of flour. Beat until smooth.
Gradually add more flour to make a dough. Knead the dough until it becomes smooth.
While you are making the filling, let the dough rest for five minutes.
Beat the cream cheese until it’s smooth and frothy in a different bowl. Beat in 3/4 cup of powdered sugar until smooth.
. Reserve about 1/3 cup of the cream cheese mixture.
In another small bowl, combine the strawberry jam and diced strawberries.
Roll out the dough on a greased counter into a rectangle measuring about 10×15 inches.
Spread the reserved cream cheese mixture over the dough, followed by the strawberry jam and diced strawberries.
Pinch the edge of the firmly rolled dough to seal.
Cut the log into 12 slices and place them in a well-greased 9×13-inch pan. Refrigerate the pan after covering it with plastic wrap.
In a bowl, combine 1/2 cup powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla with the reserved cream cheese mixture. Using enough milk to create a thin glaze, beat until smooth. Place the frosting in a ziplock bag and keep it in the refrigerator.
Chill the rolls in the refrigerator for 8 to 10 hours or overnight.
Remove the rolls and the bag of frosting from the refrigerator. Place the rolls in a warm place and let them rise until doubled in size (about an hour).
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 30-35 minutes, or until set in the middle. You may need to cover them with foil if they start to brown too much.
Cut a corner in the ziplock bag containing the frosting and glaze the rolls while they are still warm.
