Easy Texas Turtle Sheet Cake

Ingredients:

For the cake:

2 cups granulated sugar
2 cups self-rising flour
1 cup butter
1 cup strong black coffee
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk

For the chocolate frosting:

1/4 cup butter
4 tablespoons buttermilk
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar

For the turtle topping:

1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup caramel sauce (to drizzle)

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a baking pan or line it with parchment paper. Set it aside.
IGrains of sugar and self-rising flour should be combined in a big basin.. Set this mixture aside.
In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of butter, 1 cup of strong black coffee, and 1/3 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder. As you stir continuously, bring the mixture to a boil.. Once boiling, pour it into the bowl with the dry ingredients.
Using a hand-held mixer, mix on medium speed until the wet and dry ingredients are thoroughly combined.
Add the eggs and 1/2 cup of buttermilk to the mixture, and continue mixing on medium speed for about a minute, until well combined.
Fill the baking pan with the batter, then bake for 25 to 30 minutes. To check if the cake is done, insert a toothpick or fork into the middle of the cake. It means the cake is ready if it comes out clean.
As the cake bakes, have the chocolate icing ready.. In a medium saucepan, combine 1/4 cup of butter, 4 tablespoons of buttermilk, and 3 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder. Stir often over medium heat and bring to a boil.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and gradually whisk in the powdered sugar, adding it in increments of 1/2 cup.
Once the cake is done baking, spread or pour the warm chocolate frosting over the cake.
While the cake is still warm, sprinkle the chopped pecans and chocolate chips over the frosting. Drizzle the caramel sauce on top.
Before serving, let the cake cool fully.
