Buttermilk Pie

Ingredients:

3 eggs
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1/2 cup softened butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup buttermilk
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
1 (9-inch) unbaked pie crust

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
Beat the eggs in a mixing dish until they foam.
. Add the white sugar, softened butter, and flour. Beat until the mixture is smooth.
Stir in the buttermilk, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and freshly grated nutmeg. Mix until well combined.
Fill the pie crust that hasn’t cooked with the ingredients.
Bake in the preheated oven until the center of the pie is firm, which usually takes 40 to 60 minutes.
Once the pie is done, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool for 1 hour before serving.
If the edges of the pie crust are browning too quickly during baking, you can cover the pie with foil for the remainder of the baking time.
To determine if the pie is done, look for a lightly browned top and a slightly jiggly center. The center will continue to set as the pie cools. You can also insert a toothpick into the center, and if it comes out mostly clean, the pie is ready.

Note: Buttermilk pie is best served chilled or at room temperature. You can refrigerate any leftovers.
