Butter Cake

Ingredients:

1 cup softened butter
1 cup sugar
4 large eggs, at room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk

Instructions:

Beat the sugar and melted butter in a large bowl until they are light and creamy.
One egg at a time, adding and beating well after each addition.
Add the vanilla extract and beat.

Mix the baking soda, baking powder, salt, and all-purpose flour in a separate basin.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Begin and end with the flour mixture, and make sure to beat well after each addition.
Pour the batter into a 10-inch tube pan that has been dusted and buttered.
Bake the cake in a preheated oven at 150ºC (300ºF) until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. This usually takes about 60 minutes, but keep an eye on your oven as baking times can vary.
After baking, give the cake ten minutes to cool in the pan.

Run a knife around the edges and center tube of the pan to loosen the cake.
Turn the cake over onto a wire rack and let it cool fully.

Test Kitchen Tips:

When slicing the cake, use a long serrated knife to maintain neat slices without squishing or tearing the cake.
Apply gentle pressure with a back-and-forth motion while slicing.
After flipping the cake out of the pan, use a pastry brush to sweep away any excess flour.
Enjoy your delicious homemade Butter Cake!
